Illuminating Voicethread

This is Voicethread:

I really like the tool and hope to learn to use it better. It can be great for seminar work where students have to comment on different cases. But I am still not sure if it’ll work well for learners of English. Has anyone already used teaching English? How was it?

Is it possible to comment on other people’s comments there?

learning objectives

I scored 10 in the Beginner’s Questionnaire. I feel that one half of me is inclined to interactions and discussions, and the other prefers presentations and recordings. So, I think I will combine both styles in my future online course.

As to my learning objectives, for example, as a Business English teacher, I want my students to be able to write concise clear e-mails and reports to their international colleagues.

Today students are still reluctant to study online. For example, English learners at our school have had that opportunity to combine face-to-face classes with their studies in the online program for quite a long time, but as a teacher, I saw that only a few actually studied there. No matter how much I tried to persuade them, saying that it’s important to study language continuously to make quicker progress, they would keep saying they had no time.

This week I’ve had some time discussing e-learning with my colleagues and read first couple of chapters from “Teaching Online”. Here’re some thoughts I’d like to share with you.

Hi guys!

I simply love teaching. I’ve been an ESL teacher for 4 years, and now I’m working on creating an online course for Russian volunteers, and not only, at the Sochi Olympic Games in 2014. It’s such a challenge and responsibility. I so much wish my precious compatriots learn from it and make international guests feel more than welcome.

I am also here, because I simply love learning. I am a graduate of Moscow State Linguistic University where I studied languages (first English, then Spanish) and teaching languages. I used to work as an interpreter and translator, and a tour guide until I realized that I’m destined to be a teacher.

I am also a non-stop traveller. My granny says: ‘You can’t live without going somewhere.’ It’s true. At the moment I’m far from sweet home in Moscow. I’m in Shanghai. My hubby and I relocated here four months ago, and we are absolutely happy with our life here. It’s a discovery every day.

Guys, I can’t wait to read, reflect and get to know you, so I’ll finish my story here and go to see some of your blogs.
